Continuum CEO: Words Can Not Express 'Sorrow' For All Those Impacted By Las Vegas Mass Shooting

Michael George, the CEO of MSP platform provider Continuum, Monday morning told partners that words cannot express the "sorrow we all feel" for those impacted by the mass shooting just a few hotels away from where the company is hosting 700 people at its Navigate 2017 user conference.

"This was an unspeakable act and words cannot express the sorrow we all feel for those who were lost, robbed of their hopes and dreams, and of their futures," said George in an email to partners. "Our heavy hearts go out to their families and loved ones at this incredibly sad time."

The comments came after a shooting Sunday night at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, where a gunman on the 32nd floor fired a barrage of bullets on an outdoor country music festival below, killing at least 58 with hundreds injured in the midst of what is being called the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Continuum said all its team members in Las Vegas for the conference are safe. In addition, the company said it was not aware of any partners being present at the concert or harmed in any way.

Although the Continuum conference, which is being held at the Cosmopolitan Hotel from Oct. 2 through Oct. 5, will still go on, the company is working with any attending partners who may wish to change their plans. The company, in fact, said it was reaching out to partners to "assure them that they should not feel obligated to attend in light of Sunday's events."

NetApp, which is hosting its Insight 2017 user conference at the Mandalay Bay this week, canceled events Monday but plans to proceed as scheduled with the rest of the conference starting Tuesday morning. NetApp also offered to help provide new travel arrangements to Insight attendees who wish to leave Las Vegas in the wake of the tragedy.

George said he was "saddened" by the tragedies in the world and thanked all who offered "prayers and well wishes on behalf of those lost" and impacted by Las Vegas shooting. At the same time, he said he was in "awe of the true side of humankind."

"There were untold numbers of first responders running into harm’s way to help save others," said George. "Complete strangers helping one another take shelter, get help for the wounded, and usher people into safety. And this morning, countless others lining up to give blood. It is this brighter side of us all we know will endure and lift the human spirit. For this, we are all truly blessed."

George said Continuum and its partners will endure in the wake of the immoral acts against mankind. "And endure we will – as we came to this great city to help our partners do good work," he told solution providers. "You provide an important service to the small business community and create employment opportunities for thousands of people who provide for their families. We will not be daunted or dissuaded by these immoral acts against mankind, and will move forward as planned. As for our place in this world, one word – peace."
