OpsRamp Intros Lightweight IT Operations Platform For The Modern MSP

OpsRamp, an IT operations software vendor competing with some industry powerhouses, launched a consolidated solution Tuesday delivering to enterprises core IT Operations-as-a-Service functionality.

Unified Service Intelligence is a lightweight offering that combines critical monitoring and management capabilities provisioned on OpsRamp's broader platform, said Jordan Sher, OpsRamp director of corporate marketing.

"We decided to start slicing and dicing the platform itself to drive greater value for a large number of enterprises," Sher told CRN.

OpsRamp, based in San Jose, Calif., spun out of an affiliation with NetEnrich in 2014. What started as a tool for the global MSP to simplify management of its customers ultimately evolved into a commercial platform aimed at modern enterprises that have deployed hybrid cloud environments.

Unified Service Intelligence consolidates the central monitoring and management tasks faced by MSPs and IT teams trying to get a handle on complex, heterogeneous environments and toolsets.

"We have discovered there are fundamental issues that challenge the enterprise trying to transform and modernize," he said.

The OpsRamp platform integrates operations tools from vendors like ServiceNow and SolarWinds behind a single pane of glass, while also offering its alternatives to those services.

The bundled solution comes in response to customer demand, Sher said.

Enterprises want to use a single platform without a "huge big-bang implementation."

The turnkey nature and ability to rapidly deploy is a differentiator to competitors, he said, especially CA, IBM, HPE and BMC—the "Big Four" in the space, Sher said.

"We wanted to drive the greatest value for the most-complex environments," Sher told CRN. "MSPs work in those environments every day."
