iBoss CEO: It's Time To Start Thinking About Moving Security To The Cloud

According to Gartner, nearly 20 billion IoT-connected devices will be online by 2020. Securing that many devices will represent one big challenge for solution providers in 2018. Gartner anticipates a third of all attacks will target shadow IT and IoT by 2020.

Paul Martini, CEO and co-founder of iBoss, says as he saw internet bandwidth increasing and devices becoming more mobile, "we felt there was a need to provide digital security for data as it moves into a company and as it moves out of an organization in a very mobile, decentralized world."

Martini calls the Boston, Mass. vendor the equivalent of digital security guards looking at data as it comes into an organization for malware, as well as it leaves a company for data loss.

The iBoss Distributed Gateway Platform is built for the cloud and allows solution providers to efficiently deliver and manage security on complex and decentralized enterprise networks.

"There are lots of controls that you can use within the platform to allow you to both view where your data’s going and what’s coming into your network," says Martini.

This includes malware, data loss from credit card numbers and PII (personally identifiable information).

Martini says the platform, "gives you the ability to really understand what’s going on in your network. It’s nice to be able to get this kind of coverage to the cloud, as well as get the visibility in one central place."

Martini stresses that everything is moving to the cloud, so partners need to start thinking about moving their security there too.

He says, "it’s going to be a requirement as the world becomes more distributed."
