Coretronic has set a goal of reaching net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emission for all operational bases in 2050 in line with its ESG implementation, according to the company.

Coretronic aims to reach net zero GHG emission for all its offices in 2030 and reduce overall GHG emission by 40% from 2020 in 2030 and by 50% in 2032, the company said.

Coretronic set up ESG Committee in 2008, Environmental Protection Committee in 2015 and began to implement TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) structure in 2020 to draft energy saving and carbon reduction strategies.

Coretronic began ISO 14064-1 GHG inventory at its factories in Taiwan in 2016 and at its factories in China in 2019, in a bid to obtain ISO 14064-1 certificates. For the inventory at factories in Taiwan, the scope of GHG was extended from Categories 1 and 2 originally to Categories 3 through 6.

For use of renewable energy, Coretronic began to purchase green power and renewable energy certificates for its factories in Taiwan in 2015, set up rooftop PV systems at three factories in Suzhou, China in 2021 and began to do so at three factories in Taiwan in 2022. Establishment of rooftop PV systems at the three Taiwan factories has so far been completed by 75%.
